Chapter 1.3 – Trouble Among The Smugglers
Background to Chapter Alessandro Angier wants to broaden empire and his funds and so is making sure that his merchandise is the only one to get through. To make sure this happens, he has started a war between the Smugglers, setting up his own network and squeezing those who aren’t. MC finds out about this ‘war’ but doesn’t know who’s behind it (wants to find out). So he goes about recruiting smugglers in his favour to remove those who are causing the trouble.
Alessandro Algiers uses his son to run disruption in the smuggling world through betrayal and capturing of ships.
To counter this MC sets Jacopo up in Business in Trieste and uses him as one of the key oppositions to Alessandro’s empire-building. Becomes very difficult as Alessandro pressures him (but this is merely a distraction whilst MC gathers supporters and co-ordinates them from the Isle of Monte Cristo. Gov of government Tuscany. Then he will move on to expand his empire. This will include battles between ships. Raids on warehouses. And fights with the local customs officers.
